How to decorate with symbolic art — and why it transforms a room completely
Updated: Jun 18
When symbolic art enters a room, everything changes
When I first discovered the power of symbolic art, my approach to decorating my home changed completely. It was no longer just about filling walls with pretty pictures or trendy pieces — art became a meaningful conversation starter, a source of inspiration, a way to infuse my space with intention.
An empty wall and a wall holding the right piece are never the same room. Picture a calming sea scene where there was nothing before, or a joyful piece replacing blank space — the shift isn't subtle.
What symbolic art actually means
Symbolic art is not just about aesthetics. It's about meaning. A painting featuring a tree with deep roots can symbolize stability and growth. A vibrant sun motif might represent energy and optimism. These symbols do more than decorate walls — they create an atmosphere that supports your wellbeing.
About my process
My paintings begin with an intention rather than a fixed image. Inspired by personal transformation, nature, and symbolism, I allow each piece to evolve through layers of intuition, texture, and discovery. My approach has been shaped through studies at the Milan Art Institute, Born Barcelona Art Academy, and Académie Constantin Meunier — experiences that strengthened my belief that meaningful art emerges when technical skill and authentic expression work together. Working primarily in mixed media, I build each painting layer by layer, responding to what appears on the canvas rather than following a rigid plan. Animals, organic forms, and hidden symbolic details often find their way in, creating visual anchors for reflection, joy, and possibility across my original mixed media paintings.
Finding the piece that's actually meant for you
Not every piece that looks beautiful is the one meant for your space. Stand in front of a painting and ask whether it reflects who you are right now — or who you're becoming — and whether living with it would push you to do something meaningful each day, for yourself or for the people around you. If the answer is yes, it stops being decoration and becomes something closer to a tool.
Let your home tell your story
Choosing symbolic art thoughtfully turns a room into more than decoration. Every painting is created with intention: not simply to fill a wall, but to connect with the person living alongside it, and bring beauty, meaning, and energy into daily life.
